Château le Moulin Neuf is located in the heart of the Loire Valley at Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil. It looks out over an exceptionnel wine growing area, a grit based land acting as a natural temperature regulator for the soil. Maximising the potential of this land with the « Cabernet Franc » grape variety, Laurent MABILEAU carries out his work with devotion.
Convinced that the creation of a wine happens not only in the cellar, but commences already at the vine, the management of the vineyard favours an approach placing great emphasis on careful work on the ground, ecological reserve zones such as hedges, woods, embankments, grass strips etc ... This biodiversity can be seen as a real asset, leading to a greater respect towards nature and traditions in order to protect the vines and optimise the quality of the wines.
Relying on a perfectly preserved ripened fruit, the ageing of the wine in barrels starts as soon as the fermentation has finished (approximately 12 months). The barrels, aged for several years, are used for a maturation in small quantities. The wine reveals itself slowly : becoming more and more interesting and refined. The flavours are impressive, elegant and refined, the tannins becoming denser and silkier.
However, each year is a new challenge, a new balance to be found working with what nature has provided. The style of Château le Moulin Neuf isn’t to go against its traditions, nor to overlook its know how and cede to the latest industry trends : this is what makes its wines so exceptional.
